We believe learning should be a fun and an invigorating process. So, we created the Fun Learning approach to support children all over the world discover the joy of learning. Teachers play a key role in helping kids to develop a passion for learning. Therefore, it is also important for teachers to have fun in their work and embrace this approach themselves. During Fun Academy Educator Training, we asked teachers from around the world what Fun Learning means to them. Here is what they said.
Learning through play
Play and exploration are the most natural ways for children to learn. More importantly, I am yet to meet a child, or an adult, who doesn’t enjoying playing. Therefore, by following a play-based approach Fun Learning combines what children like to do most, with what they naturally excel at. The result being children who enjoy and look forward to learning.
Personalized approach to learning
The Fun Learning approach recognizes and respects each child as a unique individual. All children have specific personalities, interests and capabilities. This is precisely why there is no one learning style that fits all of them. Therefore, this approach enables kids to explore and discover their own strengths. The focus is shifted from ‘what’ to learn to ‘how’ to learn. The goal is to support kids to become the best versions of themselves.
Supporting lifelong learning
Fun doesn’t always have to look like laughter and smiles. Moreover, Fun Learning is much more than feeling entertained. It’s about sincerely enjoying what you learn. When learning is fun children feel motivated from within to proactively engage in the learning process. It helps them to develop a passion for learning from the very start and become lifelong learners.
Fun Learning makes teaching fun
To make learning fun for kids, it’s also important for teachers to feel motivated, inspired and rewarded in their work. We think every teacher is a Future Astronaut Trainer. The Fun Learning approach also focuses heavily on their continuous professional development. It gives teachers the freedom to choose how they can best support their students. This enables them to integrate the local culture as well as add their own touch to children’s everyday learning.
