Did you love homework as a kid?

When I look at homework, or work in general, the answer is simple. It’s not work if you love what you do. It’s Fun Learning.

A Chinese philosopher Confucius, two thousand years ago, said that if you do what you love to do, you will not have to work a single day in your life.

If people ask me what I’m working on, I always tell them: I actually stopped working many years ago.

Because if it feels like work, you’re not doing the right thing.

In China today, kids spend twice as much time on homework than the world average. They’re shrinking the gap though, so that’s good.

Finnish kids get less homework than any other country. They have longer summer holidays and shorter school hours. We all know how Finnish education ranks. It’s the best.

So less is more.

Fun Learning is the Answer

Here in Finland, we use something called Fun Learning. And it works pretty well for us. So a company called Fun Academy decided, “hey, we should bring this to the rest of the world”.

And we did. We took the Finnish system, we combined it with best practices around the world, and we made it easy to bring to any country, anywhere on the planet.

Teachers love it because it makes sense.

It allows teachers to follow and observe kids as they learn through play. It’s not just about making sure every worksheet is filled in and all guidelines are met.

It’s about making sure every kid, in every classroom takes an idea they love, develops it and learns from it. If they need help, sure, they ask for it and they get it.

They are the masters of their own learning. And that’s fun. It’s fun for kids, for teachers, and for parents.

It’s fun, because it’s not work.

Fun Learning in China

China is the future of the planet. There are about 270 million kids in China. That’s about 50 million shy of the whole population of the USA.

That’s a lot of kids. And they all need Fun Learning. In their schools and, most importantly, in their kindergartens.

So, how to bring effective Finnish Fun Learning to China? Put it in the kindergartens.

Fun Academy China was set up with some amazing talents in China, and with the help of expert Finnish teachers. I work with them to bring the trusted, official and only Finnish Fun Learning approach to kindergartens in China.

They hire Finnish teachers to teach the Finnish Fun Learning approach to kids in Fun Academy China kindergartens. Together, we give every kid a chance to have fun.

And give them the tools to make positive change in the world.
